Q. How far is the Ranch from Auckland, Wellington, Ohakune?
A. We are an easy 5 hour drive from Auckland via Te Kuiti and Taumaranui and an easy 4 1/2 hour drive from Wellington via Wanganui and Raetihi or Bulls and Waiouru. We are about 1 hour from Ohakune.
Q. How can I get transport into the Ranch.
A. The best option is a Minivan with driver arranged from Raetihi, or Wanganui. Details of this service are available from the Ranch. This can transport groups in and out. We do have a Helipad for helicopter arrivals. Sometimes it may be possible for Couples to be picked up from Raetihi.
Q. What is included in your accommodation rate?
A. Our guest rate is all inclusive with the exception of our extra charge activities. Enjoy lodging, all meals, western movies, the Old West Town, the Bathhouse, Snooker & Pool, Campfires and many other activities at no extra cost. Groups have free use of conference facilities. Bottled and canned beverages are not included in the rate and are charged extra, as are Gun slinging and other extra charge activities. GST included.
Q. What are your evening activities?
A. Evening activities can include western movies or old TV western episodes in the courthouse. Pool and Snooker in the Billiard Saloon. Card games in the Saloon, rest and relaxation in the Parlor, use of the bathhouse or campfires. Special arrangements can be made relevant to guests.
Q. What type of accommodation do you have?
A. Our accommodation is primarily Queen size en suite bedrooms, we have one Attic bedroom with 3 king single beds, in the Hotel. There are 2 double bunk rooms king single size and a Queen bedroom located in the Old Mine Building, which is at the end of town, apart from the other accommodation and is generally available for teenagers or a family booking. Bunkhouse accommodation is also available below the town, which is reserved for Rent the Ranch overflow group accommodation.
Q. What is your capacity?
A. Our absolute maximum guest capacity is 27 achieved with a mix of couples and singles using all beds. The Town can accommodate eight doubles and five extra doubles in twin beds or bunks, or nineteen persons bedding as singles, without resorting to our overflow accommodation.
In Rent the Ranch situations only, the use of the original Ranch Bunk House, situated a hundred and fifty metres below the Town, can extend this by: one double room and a 4 person bunk room, or five persons bedding as singles. The double room here is a Queen size and the accommodation is more basic with a shared bathroom and toilet.
Total extended capacity would then be 19 Singles in the Town and 5 singles in the Bunkhouse = 24 Singles; or 8 Doubles in Double rooms in the Town, 5 Doubles in Twin bed or Double Bunk rooms in the Town and 2 Doubles in a Double room and Bunk room in the Bunkhouse = 15 Doubles. We do however restrict our guest numbers generally to 20 persons, although special RTR arrangements can be made. Refer Rent the Ranch.
